When the brake in the wheel cylinder is released the spring delivers enough tension to hold the caps in the correct place, this prevents excess brake fluid from being forced back into the reservior. Nissan genuine cylinders use high quality internal springs while the non-genuine cylinders do not. Nissan genuine cylinders also have polished internal surfaces to promote smooth movement while the internal surface of the non-genuine cylinder is machined but not to the same standards. Polished internal surfaces also help maintain proper pressure allowing the Nissan genuine cylinder to speed up the breaking reaction and prevent the metal caps from becoming misaligned in the wheel cylinder casting, the metal caps in the non-genuine cylinder are not polished and may lead to misalignment.
